SSMA Earns An A+

Congratulations to the Stafford STEM Magnet Academy teachers, staff, and students! After completing their inaugural year as a campus in 2021-22, the Stafford STEM Magnet Academy received an A-rating from the Texas Education Agency Accountability Ratings.

The Director of STEM Dr. Lakenya Perry-Allen who spearheaded the campus opening said, "We knew our curriculum was established to receive an A. Our curriculum is rich with project-based learning, challenges where students have hands on experience, and students receive guest speakers. It was no-brainer. We put in the work."

The campus earned a score of 97 out of 100, and received 7 distinctions, the maximum possible, for the following areas: ELA/Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Comparative Academic Growth, Postsecondary Readiness, and Comparative Closing the Gaps.

This is a rare feat for a campus, let alone in the first year of establishment, and Superintendent Dr. Robert Bostic stated, "In 40 years, no one has ever gotten an A [at Stafford MSD]...ever! I was ecstatic."

The entire district received an overall B-rating, which comes on the heels of two years of virtual learning where students were forced to learn at home throughout the pandemic.
