ISEE Testing

We are pleased to partner with ERB to administer the ISEE as an admissions requirement for the Stafford STEM Magnet Academy. The ISEE admission exam has four levels: Primary, Lower, Middle and High.
NOTE: THE ISEE IS ONLY A REQUIREMENT FOR GRADES 3-9. FIRST GRADE APPLICANTS HAVE A DIFFERENT TESTING REQUIREMENT - PLEASE REFERENCE EMAIL AND HANDBOOK.

Primary Level

The primary-level exam is for students currently in grades 2 and 3 who are candidates for admission into grades 3 and 4. The primary-level exam is an hour-long test that consists of a reading and math section. This level is only available online.

Lower Level

The lower-level exam is for students currently in grades 4 and 5 who are candidates for admission into grades 5 and 6. The lower level ISEE consists of three parts: (1) carefully constructed and standardized verbal and quantitative reasoning tests that measure your child’s capability for learning; (2) reading comprehension and mathematics achievement tests that provide specific information about your child’s strengths and weaknesses in those areas; and (3) an essay section. The Lower-Level test is 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Middle and High Level

The middle-level exam is for students currently in grades 6 and 7 who are candidates for admission into grades 7 and 8. The high-level exam is for students currently the 8th grade who are candidates for the 9th grade. In the middle and high levels, the ISEE consists of three parts: (1) carefully constructed and standardized verbal and quantitative reasoning tests that measure your child’s capability for learning; (2) reading comprehension and mathematics achievement tests that provide specific information about your child’s strengths and weaknesses in those areas; and (3) an essay section. Both exams are 2 hours and 40 minutes.

The ISEE essay is timed and written in response to a prompt.  This essay is not scored; it is scanned and sent only to the schools you requested.

While testing fees, format and the registration process may vary by location, the exam itself remains uniform across all testing locations. The ISEE evaluates your child’s level of reading, and their ability to comprehend material drawn from the sciences and humanities.

There is a cost associated with the ISEE exam - PLEASE SEE REFERENCES emailed to you upon completion of the inquiry.

*Please Note: the listed testing details below are for on-campus testing. Testing details vary for students choosing to take their ISEE at home. Please refer to www.ISEEtest.org for more information.
